Tax Filing Assistance
Each tax season, Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County (CAP-HC) provides free tax filing assistance for people who are eligible. Through a partnership between CAP-HC and the IRS’ Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, tax law-certified volunteers will prepare and e-file your federal, state, and property taxes.

Eligibility
You may be eligible for our VITA Program if you meet the following requirements:
- You live in Hennepin County.
- You are a single-filing household with an annual income of $40,000 or less or a joint-filing household with an annual income of $60,000.
- You are a person with a disability.
- You are a limited English-speaking taxpayer.

We will schedule a a pre-screening phone call to determine you’re eligibility.
We Contact You
If we determine you’re eligible during your pre-screening, we will send you a program application, schedule a VITA Tax Clinic appointment, and provide the list of documents you will need to bring to your appointment.
Your appointment will usually last 1-2 hours and will be scheduled from January 23 to April 12, 2025 or until all appointments are filled.
