Here’s how to do it:
- Make a donation to CAP-HC. If you recently made a donation, skip to step 2.
- Check with your employer to see if your contribution can be matched.
- If your employer is matching your contribution, follow their instructions and select CAP-HC as the recipient of the matching gift. If your employer doesn’t have specific instructions available, contact your Human Resources or Business Office for more information.
Sponsor a FAmily
When the coldest months of the year hit, it can strain budgets and add stress for people who already struggle to provide basic needs for their families. CAP-HC’s Sponsor a Family Program utilizes your generosity to help families with low income build toward stability so they can reclaim the celebratory spirit of the winter season.
The Sponsor a Family Program is no longer accepting sign-up forms for the 2024 winter season, but you can still support families by making a donation in any amount.

What is a Donor-Advised Fund?
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is like a charitable investment account that is set up for the sole purpose of supporting charities. You can contribute cash, stocks, or other assets into the DAF and receive an immediate tax deduction. The funds are invested for tax-free growth. You have the flexibility to direct how much and how often money is granted to charities over time.
Donor-advised funds are the fastest-growing charitable giving vehicle because they are the easiest, and most tax-savvy way to give to charities like CAP-HC.
How does a daf work?
- You make an irrevocable tax-deductible contribution (cash, stock, real estate, etc.) to a DAF-sponsoring organization, community foundation, or financial institution to establish the fund.
- You receive a tax receipt and tax benefits when funds are deposited into your DAF.
- The DAF-sponsoring organization oversees the funds, which now legally belong to them, as they grow tax free. You retain advisory privileges over the investment strategy and disbursements made from the DAF.
- You can direct single or recurring donations to tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organizations that are classified as public charities under 509(a).
- Once the DAF-sponsoring organization approves your request, the donation is made to the qualified charitable organization, such as CAP-HC.
What are the benefits of giving through a DAF?
- Support charities you believe in through strategic giving over time.
- Take advantage of immediate tax benefits with the ability to distribute funds later.
- Consolidate all your charitable giving and simplify your tax documentation.
