As we close out the year, Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County (CAP-HC) is reflecting on the positive impact we’ve made in our community. With support from generous funders and donors like you—along with our clients, staff, board members, volunteers, and partners—we made measurable progress toward advancing economic security and creating opportunity. Read on for highlights from our work in 2025, including comments from our clients.

Building community, creating opportunity, and caring for our neighbors can’t happen without community support. Looking ahead to 2026, the need for services that center stability and dignity remains high. Please consider making a donation by 11:59pm December 31 to help us reach our $25,000 fundraising goal.

Your gift helps ensure that more neighbors have access to the resources they need, when they need them, and that we can continue building a stronger Hennepin County for everyone.

Energy Assistance: 18,371 services provided* means improved energy efficiency and reduced energy burden in homes.

Energy-Related Repair: 368 services provided means families experienced improved health and safety due to improvement to their homes.

“When in need, one feels very vulnerable. I felt cared for and really appreciated [CAP-HC staff’s] warmth and caring. It makes me feel proud to be part of Minneapolis and Minnesota.”

—Energy Assistance Client

“I have appreciated the financial help more than you can even imagine … the rising costs of city and state taxes, rising utility costs, rising food costs … really everything has gone up so much. Living on Social Security alone, which has not caught up with these items nor inflation has really caused strong financial hardship for myself and others like me. After working our lifetime it’s as though the rules all changed, and the chair was pulled out from under us.”

—Energy Assistance Client

Rental Assistance: 292 services provided means families avoided eviction and were able to remain in their homes.

“I appreciate the help, it made the difference between being evicted and staying in my place. I work in housing, and this was amazing, direct help. I felt trusted and believed.”

—Rental Assistance Client

MNsure Application Assistance: 57 services provided means people were able to apply for health insurance with assistance from one of our MNsure Navigators on staff.

“Getting the assistance—assistance I assumed I would never receive—made a huge positive impact in my life. A mere $220 eliminated a huge burden that I had no other way of addressing or resolving. Your program literally saved my life.”

—Jonathan, Energy Assistance & MNsure Application Assistance Client

Vehicle Repair Program: 135 services provided means people had safe, reliable transportation to work, school, appointments, and more.

“Thank you so much for the auto repairs. Losing my job earlier this year and then being worried about my car not being road safe was so destabilizing. This program is so wonderful … [it] has helped bring stability to my life in what I had feared would be a very rough year.”

—Vehicle Repair Client

Financial Wellness Workshops: 273 services provided means people learned how to budget, manage credit, build assets, and build toward prosperity.

“I learned so much from [the Financial Wellness Workshop] today. [The CAP-HC instructor was] just an overflowing fountain of information, a pleasure to listen to and learn from. My mind is full of information, and I just need to retain this information so I can be successful. What a great day it was today – thank you!”

—Janet, Financial Wellness Client
